The Mismeasure of Man

Stephen Jay Gould

- Stephen Jay Gould , The Mismeasure of Man (1996)

Before the 1800's, religion could be relied on to account for variance in occupation and remuneration. God empowered a Church-ordered society to sort workers by calling, and so it was.

our world be holy,
assure us instead
it is rational.
