The Friendly Orange Glow: The Untold Story of the PLATO System and the Dawn of Cyberculture
"Pornography: another inevitable consequence of bringing a lot of people together in a virtual space online. The true nerds would digitize photos with a camera then run special software to convert the image into crude orange lines and dots. Taking minutes to plot a naked lady was a thrill around which college students would gather and cheer." - Brian Dear, The Friendly Orange Glow: The Untold Story of the PLATO System and the Dawn of Cyberculture (2017)
You know, I was thinking about how to display a bitmap when creating the Fluttershy lesson. They gave me 35 blocks of 20k bits each. So, 672k bits. A bitmap would require 262k bits, so you could fit two. However, I don't see a way to pack a block with binary data, so you might not even fit one bitmap. What I went with was a species of run-length encoding.
