Chernobyl: The History of a Nuclear Catastrophe
"Pregnant with her first child, Lyudmila sacrificed her own health, and that of her unborn baby, to stay with her husband whose body turned into a source of radioactivity." - Serhii Plokhy, Chernobyl: The History of a Nuclear Catastrophe (2018)
One of the debunking Chernobyl videos said the series got it wrong showing the concern over Lyudmila getting close to her husband because of radiation. The real problem was she broke isolation intended to keep out infection until a bone marrow transplant took effect, but I think this is a case of both being true.
As far as I understand, when bombarded by neutron radiation, anything can become radioactive, and radioactive dust and water could be taken into the body as a source of radiation.
