Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World
"[TED talk attendees show] a preference for speakers that remind winners of their victorious selves. A critic in the traditional mode is often a loser figure, a thorn, an outside agitator, a rumpled cynic. The rising thought-leaders, although their product is ideas are less like that and more like side-kicks of the rich and powerful, buying parkas in the same aspen stores, reading the same books, getting paid by the same corporations." - Anand Giridharadas, Winners Take All: The Elite Charade of Changing the World (2018)
In each age, there's a system, and some win and some lose. The winners then try to maintain the system in which they won; the system will be justice, at least in the short term.
