The Origins of Political Order: From Prehuman Times to the French Revolution
Beginning this series. I've been thinking a lot about how authority works, questions such as -- how can authoritarian systems continue as dominance, violence, and religious absolutism fall from favor? How should authority respond to diversity? The book's promise of taking political order from prehistory to modern times is fairly grandiose, but as I've never come across such an attempt, it should be interesting whether fulfilling or not.
