Notes and Reflections on Books and Media

by Hannah Leitheiser

carl sagan

"an assault, by mysticism and superstition, into what had largely been an empirical science." - carl sagan, cosmos.

a friction exists between astronomers (and scientists in general) and astrologers. i suppose i side most with the scientists, on the other hand, life's short and uncertain and if people enjoy some extra-scientific connection to stars and planets, i think that's generally fine. it's long past the time when the state needed to enforce a particular view of the heavens, and as long as my kind is free to pursue our science, i have no reason to complain.

scorpio, by the way.
