the next talk was on early computer simulation and simula (67), which holds the distinction for the first object orientated language. simulation is an area the tends to push technology and is a rapidly changing field, but caci advanced simulation lab -- which appears to have taken the flag on simula -- boasts "simscript iii [their 2007 update] is the only simulation package (programming language + ancillary features) on the market which is specifically designed to support modular object-oriented simulation development." if their marketing is to be trusted, 50 years later, simula is still a thing.
