Notes and Reflections on Books and Media

Dogs and All About Them
Reading a book about dog breeds, and, as I imagine happens when anyone's mind wanders around this subject, wondering -- what about humans?
Of course, you get into the issue of whether humans use deliberate selection. Humans do deliberately select mates, but can that be called selective breeding? And if it were, what breeds are the humans developing? Attractive, rich leadership breeds, and dull common worker breeds? Breeds based on races (which you could maybe call breeds -- although races of humans may be older than dog breeds)? Or breeds along some other lines? Or is the mixing just too random to account for anything?
