World of Sound
Reading "The World of Sound," a collection of lectures for 'juveniles.'
Although this is probably well-know to any musicians out there, pleasing harmonies tend to have frequency ratios involving small numbered fractions, and from that perspective, the contemporary scale is somewhat out of tune with other notes, excepting the octaves. It's fairly small, and people have gotten use to it, or never noticed, but it is a bit wrong, all the same.
