Thomas Malthus


I'm reading Thomas Malthus's book on population -- a subject that is still controversial. Malthus was not the first to suggest that human population growth might hit some kind of ceiling, but he seemed unique in believing that growth had long ago been checked by resources shortages and was involved in oscillations of periodic human misery.
