Notes and Reflections on Books and Media

fallout equestria: project horizons
so finished the 4,000 page or so fallout equestria: project horizons. with healing potions, talismans, cybernetics and good old main character invincibility, you can get pummeled nearly dead and fight on against wider and wider circles of evil, ad infinitum. but i suppose that's how it goes with a book based on a video-game.
what does it mean to be a hero in the post-apocalyptic wasteland? be better? never the easy way? trust your instincts? stay true to the lives, loss, and suffering of your friends even when potentially dooming the universe? who knows?
i was going to be upset if i didn't get something close to a happy ending. my two cents to writers: if you're going to author a tragedy, keep it short. readers deserve peace after a marathon.
