The Assault on Reason: Our Information Ecosystem, from the Age of Print to the Age of Trump
Mr. Gore is bashing television. Basically saying it's better at evoking a fear response than writing, that it's a media with gatekeepers that prevent some messages from being heard, and a broadcast format that prevents conversation -- except perhaps with partners and friends at commercial breaks.
I guess I'm a millenial. I've never owned a television. Of course, I watch videos, but it's all on the computer. Now, there are still algorthmic gatekeepers involved in the internet, and I'm a bit skeptical that books are that much worse at making people feel strong emotions.
