Reading "Woman in Science." It occurs to me that whatever humans may think about the capacities of women, preventing some group the possibility of participating in intellectual activity might imply, in an economic sense, a low demand for intellectual work. But I can't quite tell if that fits, or whether it's more strongly about appropriate gender models.
