Hollywood's Interval

In Algorithms to Live By, Christian and Griffiths talked about trying to find a proven best way to optimize resources between exploration and exploiting what you'd learned. For example, if you are going to be in a foreign country for a few months, how much time should you spend looking for new places to visit and how much revisiting your favorites? It's been solved in some particular cases, but in general has not.

Tne basic idea, though, is that earlier, it's more productive to search (you'll have more time to enjoy what you found) and later best to exploid -- the precise point and how you'd want to switch depends critically on particulars -- but perhaps you can at least roughly infer the interval of a project by looking at behavior. The authors noted that Hollywood lately seems keen on sequels.
